Well, a wise man once said, “You never get involved in a land war in Asia.” So the fact that Germany was able to defeat Russia in the First World War is impressive. However, I’d say the Russian military at the time of the first Great War was not all that impressive, especially compared to the force they mounted during World War II. The fact that Germany was able to keep the Russians at bay for so long is what’s really impressive. So I’d say World War II-era Germany was much stronger.
