karatam asked: Who would you say is the most successful military commander in history?

Alexander? Caesar? Ghengis Khan?

“Most successful” is a really difficult term to gauge. It could be with commander caused the least amount of deaths, had the most victories, gained the most territory, etc. I think the most, overall, successful military commander in history would be Genghis Khan. Due to Temüjin (Genghis’ birth name), the Mongolian Empire would become the largest, contiguous, empire in world history. During Genghis’ lifetime, he helped the Mongolian Empire expand into much of China and into the Middle East.

Disclaimer: This is a very hard question for me, someone who prefers military history, to answer. Even after writing up that paragraph, I’m not entirely sure Genghis Khan is the most successful military commander in History.
