Anonymous asked: what was de vinci's childhood like

Born out of wedlock by a wealthy Florentine legal notary and a peasant in the town of Vinci, Leonardo had no surname, so instead took the name of his town, become Leonardo da Vinci. He spent his early life with his mother, in relative destitution, eventually moving in with his illegitimate father’s family. In this environment he learned Latin, geometry, and mathematics. Later, he was apprenticed to Verrocchio, a famous Florentine artist, which is where da Vinci picked up his trade.
